How to Create a Simple Video on Your Own

Note from the authors: Please be aware that this is a basic video-editing tutorial for beginners who wish to create a very simple and basic video using the most basic editing software. If you wish to create an advance quality video, tutorial and software are available online.

Pre-requisite

Step 1: Make sure your computer has Windows Movie Maker application installed

If your computer does not have it preinstalled, you can manually download and install from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-live/movie-maker

Step 2: Create a story-line

It is important to have a story-line before looking for materials. This is to ensure that you can focus what you need in your video without wasting time looking for materials that you definitely will not use in the production of the video.

Step 3: Make sure you have all materials needed to create the video

The materials are based on the story-line we developed previously. Once the video editor software installed and the materials are prepared, you are ready to go for the video editing process.

Create You Own Simple Video Using Windows Movie Maker
Step 1: Open Windows Movie Maker software

Once the application started, insert all materials you own to be developed into a movie.

Step 2: Select and insert the materials you wish to use

You can select more than one file by clicking the files you wish to add while holding the button ‘Ctrl’ on the keyboard. Click open to insert the files.

Step 3: Start the editing of your video

There are several options you can use to make your video more interesting.

Option 1: Add text or caption
Option 2: Add animation and visual effects in slides
Option 3: Add audio as background sound

Step 4: Save the video into your computer

After you have finished with the editing, the video needs to be rendered and saved into the computer. Click the button in the red-box as shown in the image below.

After the process has completed, you have options where to close the application, open the output folder of the video or watch the product you have just produced and enjoy the video.

That is all for this tutorial. Hope it helps.
Cheers.
